The Indications Of Emergency Thoracotomy In Thoracic Trauma

The thoracic trauma has accounted for 25-50% of all traumatic injuries and it is most common reason of death of peoples.Careful monitoring of vital signs,appropriate fluid replacement and analgesia constitute adequate therapy in up to 85-90% of such patients.However there stil a small but significant 10-15% subgroup of thoracic trauma victims who reqiure emergency thoracotomy. The function of the thoracic surgeons is detect justly occured cardiac arrest,uncontrolled hemorrhage, cardiac tamponade and repair the requiring treatments via thoracotomy.Keywords: Thoracic injury, thoracotomy, hemothoraxTurkiye Klinikleri J Surg Med Sci 2007, 3(47):43-51
